SNL Boston Stars

This is studio 8H at Rockefeller Center in New York City where they are rehearsing Saturday Night Live. During it’s 27-year history, the show has launched major comedy careers, and now there are three current cast members from New England who are starting to carve out their own niche.
This is 28-year-old, Seth Meyers first season on the show. He hails from Bedford, New Hampshire.
Seth Meyers, Cast member
"Saturday Night Live is a nice show to get on because of course everyone has seen it, forever. So it’s been very helpful for them for bragging purposes. And they’re nice. But my dad is a little unhappy that I’m on a show that is on so late at night because my mom insists he watch it live."
31-year-old Amy Poehler is a graduate of Burlington High School and BC. She became a full-fledged cast member in January of this year.
Amy Poehler, Cast member
"People from Boston have really good senses of humor about themselves, but they also don't let you get to big for your britches. So it’s a combination of, ‘You’re doing great, but don’t forget where you come from’."
And Rachel Dratch, who hails from Lexington, is the veteran of the group. This is her third season on SNL, but the thrill is still there.
Rachel Dratch, Cast member
"The first two years I was here, I’d be walking the streets in New York and be like ‘I’m on Saturday Night Live.’ I keep having these flashes of, ‘Oh My God!’ And I still do sometimes...Oh, it’s really fun, it’s like the dream-come-true job...It’s pretty tough in terms of your sleep schedule. Monday night you pitch your ideas to Lorne and the host, but then Tuesday night is the big writing night, and we’re there all night long, till 7 or 8 in the morning."
Seth Meyers
"Particularly if you're new a lot of what you have to do is teach other people what you're good at, and the best way to do that is generate your own ideas...People say it must be a dream come true, but I don’t think I ever dared to dream that something like this would ever happen."
And yes there is a Boston bond...
Rachel Dratch
"We both worked at Chadwick’s Ice Cream in Lexington, at different times."
Amy Poehler
"Dratch and I slung ice cream, and gave many people in Boston jimmies…but that’s not a sexual thing."
Don't miss all of our Boston friends on SNL this Saturday night at 11:30 here on 7 NBC.
